Literature That Inspires Us: The Tale of Peter Rabbit
Among Kristen’s childhood in Tennessee, travels to the European countryside, and her life in New York City, a big inspiration for Byrne & Bittle has been classic children’s literature. The brand is meant to encapsulate that feeling as if you’re in a classic fairytale - whimsical, nostalgic, and playful, all while maintaining luxurious and high quality products to assure your Byrne & Bittle pieces last a lifetime.
Beatrix Potter was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist; she was best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Two of her other popular books include The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is the story of four bunnies – Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter. Published in 1902, it was her first book, expanded from an illustrated letter she had sent to a young friend who was ill. The story is accompanied by beautiful illustrations that are cherished by many generations. One hundred years later, the classic tale of naughty Peter Rabbit's escape from Mr. McGregor's garden still brings to children all over the world the pleasure that it gave to its first reader.
